Important Internet Organizations Hacked by the Devil

April 9th, 2010

According to researchers, Turkish hackers were able to vandalize international organizations’ official site that works to supervise the important routing infrastructure and control domains of the Internet.

The group named themselves as “NetDevilz”. They managed to momentarily reroute visitors to the web sites for ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) and IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority).

The researchers at zone-h.org, an organization that gather evidence of attacks which includes page vandalism and reroutes, stated that visitors who were visiting iana-servers.com, icann.com, iana.com, internetassignednumbersauthority.com and icann.net were redirected to an illegitimate website. The zone-h.org were able to get a snapshot of the bogus site and it has this statement written on it “You think that you control the domains but you don’t! Everybody knows wrong. We control the domains including ICANN! Don’t you believe us? haha :) (Lovable Turkish hackers group)”

IANA is the organization that is responsible in supervising DNS root zone and allocating DNS operators for the top-level domains of the Internet like .org and .com. DNS (Domain Name System) translates the URLs and domains like google.com into an IP address which is an important element of the traffic-guiding infrastructure of the Web.

ICANN supervises IANA and assigns IP address space and controls the top-level domain naming system of the Web.

Maybe, not coincidental to the vandalism, just recently ICANN was in the news voting to relax the rules in allocating and controlling top-level domains. Voting to relax the rules means that organization and other companies can ultimately take control of their own domains. For instance, ebay.com can take control of the .ebay domain and Google can run the .google domain.

Dancho Danchev posted in his blog, a Bulgarian security researcher that the hackers were also able to redirect the visitors of the site Photobucket Inc. into a German hosting service Atspace.com they redirected and used similar IP address, specifically 82.197.131.106, to redirect ICANN and IANA traffic. Some of the defacements done to the sites are still active at the moment. Photobucket still has not releases any official statement but Atspace.com already did.

The spokesman for ICANN was contacted and he was informed about the hack but he stated that he was not aware of it and will not comment until he find out more about the attack.

Zone-H has already sent an email to NetDevilz hacking group asking them on how they were able to hack the domain names. But as expected they decline to reply, so speculations are taking place that states vulnerability of cross-site request forgery or cross-site scripting.

Things you should not do with your Google adsense

April 8th, 2010

Things you should not do with your Google adsense.

There is no question that you can make some good money with Google AdSense, but you are setting yourself up for disaster if you make any of these Top 10 mistakes!

1. Do not use fake information when opening your Google AdSense account.

Google says that is a no-no and they will cut your account off and keep all the money you may have earned. Besides, trying to hide your identity can cause serious problems with the I.R.S. or whoever your tax authority is.

2. Do not hack or modify Google AdSense code other than to change the parameters that Google authorizes you to change.

Any attempt to bypass Google’s built-in algorithms not only poses a danger to the integrity of the network, but it threatens the financial model under which Google operates You are not dealing with some Mom-and-Pop company here, and Google has the legal muscle and deep enough pockets to drag you through every court in the land if you damage their business with your hacking antics.

3. Keep AdSense ads off your registration, confirmation, and all “thank you” pages.

Do not ask me why you cannot put your ads there. It makes sense to me that those would be wonderful locations. Google thinks otherwise, however, and doing so is a hanging offense according to their Terms of Service.

4. Do not display AdSense ads and a competitor’s ads (like Overture’s) on the same page at the same time.

That just makes plain good sense. Google does not demand 100% SITE loyalty from you, but they do insist that their own ads not be cluttered up by offerings from their competitors.

5. Don’t “beg for clicks” or provide any incentive for clicking on your Google AdSense ads.

This is a biggie and you see this rule violated all the time. Any of the “get paid to do stuff” sites that put Google ads in the member’s control panels are walking the plank and they do not even realize it. Even those sites with the polite little messages asking you to “help keep my site running by clicking on our sponsor’s ads” are asking to be cut off if those happen to be Google ads.

6. Never click on the ads running on your own site, even if you are genuinely interested in the product or service and are thinking of buying it!

Nothing screams FRAUD louder than a webmaster running up his or her own click counts by happily clicking on ads from their own site. The Google Gods can track this activity and it will not be long until you find yourself getting a goodbye note from their fraud team.

7. No misleading labeling

Google is very specific about what text can be placed around their ads. Their Terms of Service state: “Publishers may not label the ads with text other than ‘sponsored links’ or ‘advertisements.’ This includes any text directly above our ads that could be confused with, or attempt to be associated with Google ads.”

This is to keep visitors from becoming confused and barking up Google’s tree, when they clicked on an ad that led to a porn site instead of the recipe site they were expecting to visit.

8. Avoid keyword spamming and other divisive tricks

You may be tempted to buy one of those “generates thousands of key-word rich pages in seconds” programs that are so popular these days but I will tell you this: Their days are numbered. Google is wise to such shenanigans and they will be hot on your trail. Other prohibited gimmicks include:

o”Sneaky” page redirects that send a visitor off to a different site then they were expecting to visit.

o Multiple sites, domains, pages, etc., which have duplicate content.

o Hidden text or links of any type.

o Excessive outbound links on any page. Google recommends no more than 100. I would keep it way below that.

o And here is a nugget of wisdom straight from Google’s mouth: “Do not participate in link schemes designed to increase your site’s ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web as your website may be affected adversely by those links.

9. Don’t advertise anything on Google’s prohibited items list.

It’s a lot shorter lists than PayPal’s or eBay’s, but it includes a lot of the same stuff like hacking/cracking content, porn, illegal drugs, gambling sites, beer or hard alcohol (I guess wine is OK), weapons, and the other usual stuff.

10. And the 10th dumbest thing NOT to do with Google AdSense is to let the other nine things stop you from running an honest site that’s designed to make the most out of this very profitable opportunity that Google offers!

Poker Stars Hack – Can Anyone Do it?

April 8th, 2010

Indeed, the internet has become a medium that can provide amusement for people from all walks of life and gambling has become an integral part of that. People find gambling so entertaining that it has branched out and successfully gained accessed into the Internet.

In this form of entertainment, players are ready to risk their money. If you go into, online Poker web site, you will learn that it’s no different from a real casino. Players either win or lose and would even attempt to cheat just so they could win more.

Since online gambling is something that people get addicted to and because of this the number of players in Poker Stars continues to grow. All of these Poker players would naturally want to win but we know that this is not possible. What people do instead to win in online Poker is use a cheat software or do a Poker Stars hack.

Is it really possible to do a Poker Stars hack? Poker Stars is no different from Google, every one wants to keep up with Google so their web site will rank high but Google is always on the move and keeps on changing their algorithm. The same thing happens with Poker Stars, any program that can hack through Poker Stars is only good for a couple of days at the most, later on this will be discovered by Poker Stars and you can say goodbye to the hacking program. Just a warning, you should know that Poker Stars is constantly changing its procedures and security software.

It’s amazing to note though that one way for players to hack is through the use of robot software. The robots can conceal the identity of the player and can work with hacking software which will enable you to win a lot of money. The hacking software can reveal all your opponents’ cards and even predict what their next move will be. This is illegal and once caught you should prepare for the consequences.

If you want to play safe then you’d best settle for Poker Stars cheat software, but if you are daring enough you can still hire a skilled programmer or geek that can create a hacking software.

It might work for a period of time but eventually this will be disabled by the ever evolving security measures of Poker Stars. What’s in it for you? You might find yourself stunned once your hacking program suddenly stops working and in a disadvantageous position where you can be penalized or sentenced to jail.

Bottom line is Poker Stars players have to understand that developing a technique which can maximize any beneficial deviation and minimize any loss in a game is the best course of action.

This is the best way to win because it’s legal and doesn’t break any ground rules of Poker Stars. Now, you don’t have to worry about any penalty if you are caught hacking. If you’re still determined to hack Poker Stars, yes, you can but just be ready for the consequences.

You Can’t Trick Google

April 8th, 2010

Google is tough to trick. What if you wanted to trick it? Well, even if you could trick it, this would probably be unwise, because your site could end up in the “Trash Pile” list. This largely frees webmasters from spending time on tricks and page hacks designed to get higher rankings.

There are several reasons your pages may not show up, including the way they are generated, their availability, and content.

According to information at Google’s site, they limit the number of dynamically generated pages that they index at any site. Site crawlers can generate a tremendous amount of site traffic in a short amount of time. Google limits the number of dynamic pages it requests to avoid monopolizing a server’s resources.

Frames can also cause problems. This is because it’s difficult for an automated system to know what should be indexed: the frame, the individual panes, the entire page or the alternate content. If your site uses frames, it’s very important that your frames include “noframes” content. This is alternate content for browsers that can’t handle frames. It is also used by search engines.

If your site doesn’t provide an internal path to all of your pages, search robots may not find them. These pages may also not be indexed if they are only linked to by pages that are not in the index for other reasons, such as being dynamically generated. This problem can be avoided by including an index page that provides direct links to pages that have convoluted navigation paths.

Pages may also be left out if they are not available when search crawlers visit. Many sites do periodic maintenance at off hours, or cycle servers during the night. If your site is not fully redundant, it may be unavailable at these times, which can result in your site being left out of the index. This will normally be corrected the next time the crawler visits your site, but should be avoided because it makes it difficult for users to find your site.

In rare cases, page content can cause your pages to be left out. If Google identifies elements on your pages that it thinks are inappropriate for general audiences, the pages will get filtered out. The content will be indexed, but may not show up in search results, depending on the searcher’s SafeSearch settings.

Pages are also filtered out if they do not meet Google’s “quality standards”. Google doesn’t detail what its quality standards are, but things like page cloaking, invisible text, or other techniques designed to fool search engines can cause pages to be excluded. Pages are also occasionally excluded for copyright reasons, or because the page content is inflammatory. Fortunately, it’s rare for any of these problems to affect typical sites.

Google Tags your Site as Harmful

April 7th, 2010

Google has started with tagging the sites that are reported of linking themselves to badwares or hosting a badwares in the site. Oh ok, badwares, they define it as malicious software that tracks your moves online and feeds that information back to shady marketing groups so that they can ambush you with targeted ads. The trickiest part of the badware is that you may not know that you downloaded it. Some badware manufacturers bundle it with other programs without disclosing that it’s part of the package. Others put their programs on your PC when you visit certain websites or play online games.

Google has introduced this to make the Google visitor feel comfortable and safer while surfing in Google. Whenever badware site is indexed in the search, you will notice a warning stating that “This site may harm your computer” some thing similar as shown in the search result below:

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/710/harmsitepx5.jpg

As well as it wouldn’t take you to the site directly from Google, instead, it would take you to a warning page which looks similar to this:

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/307/warmingvn7.jpg

The efforts from Google are genuine and would help our computers from getting affected with badwares that can harm our computers. But, as my Sir (Mr. Pankaj Trivedi) used to say that never a system can be perfect, especially when it is introduced, that is obvious to have some bugs and loop holes in the starting stage. There are cases when Google false positive for some sites. Just imagine if that is your site, it would drop down your visitor traffic and I know there are major sites that have 90% traffic coming from Google. If I am a visitor, I would definitely not try to visit your site if I see a warning “This site may harm your computer”; there are several other results before me, I would try one of them and avoid visiting your site. That would loose your traffic and image in internet world in no time. I had one of my clients facing the same, so make sure you take below steps if you find such warning in the search results of your site.

1. There is no direct way to remove the warning at the earliest.

2. File a request of review at http://www.stopbadware.org/home/review.

3. Make sure your site is not infected with any badware.

4. Check all the new scripts installed.

5. Check with your host for any hacking attempts.

I think this much should let your site removed from the listing.

Ten Tips to Help your Web Site Rank Better in Google

April 7th, 2010

Over 80 percent of Internet users use Google to find products and services on the world wide web. It stands to reason that if you want to generate more qualified sales leads you need to rank on the first or second page within the search engines results pages on Google.

As Google gets more and more sophisticated with each algorithm update, search engine optimisation methods have to change to keep getting good results.

Here is a list of ten important tactics that you can use to improve your Google rankings.

Sign up for Google Adwords Although Google will deny it, anecdotal evidence suggests that Goggle favors Adwords customers over non-Adwords customers. This is true for new web sites that often take months to get spidered and indexed by Google. I have seen brand new sites get spidered, indexed and listed in the search engine results pages in as little as a week.

It doesn’t have to cost a lot either. You can set up a low budget campaign of 50 cents to one dollar a day and still get favorable treatment.

Use the right keyword phrase The most important factor in getting quality web traffic is to

optimize your web pages for the correct keyword phrase. Getting the most sales is often a balance between search volume for key words and level of competition. Use the Overture keyword tool and Google Adwords tool to research and identify your best keyword phrases. Look for keyword phrases that have high search volume, but low competition. It also pays to see what key words your successful competitors are optimising for.

Put your key word phrase in your title tag Forget about putting your company name in the title tag (unless it is a valuable part of the key words), it’s a waste of words and will not help you rank in the search engines. The first three of four words in your title tag should be the key word phrase you are trying to optimize for. Try to limit your total character count to 60 characters.

Write an attractive page description tag Title tags are for search engines, description tags are for people. Spend time researching and writing a description tag that compels the reader to click on your listing. Come up with a great offer, use action words. Use shock and awe. Use anything that will get them to click.

Use H1 tags An often neglected search engine optimisation technique is to put your keyword phrase in H1 tags on your page. This tells Google that the following text is about your keyword phrase. Google weights H1 tags nearly as highly as title tags. This tip alone can drastically improve your Google. Similarly, the use of bold and strong html tags can emphasize a key word phrase within the paragraph text where it may not be appropriate to use H1 or H2 tags.

Get the right keyword ratio Aim for a keyword density of around 3-5% of the page contents. Try to work your key word phrase into the page so that it reads naturally. This may take some research and analysis of successful web sites. Remember to use headings and sub-headings that include your key words.

Use alt tags and description tags on images Key words used image file names, alt tags and description tags add to the key word density of any web page. They doesn’t make a huge difference, but every little bit helps. In some product classes a Google image search may lead web surfers to your web site.

Get quality one-way incoming links through article marketing and directory submissions As far as Google is concerned; link exchanges are just about dead. They can help to get your web site spidered and indexed more quickly, but these days they add very little in terms of Google search engine rankings unless the link is on a trusted site and that site has excellent page rank. Wikipedia and DMOZ are examples of such trusted sites.

A more effective approach is to write interesting and informative articles and submit them to article directories. Make sure that you use the author bio/resource box to maximum advantage by using your key word phrase in the link anchor text, AND, by pointing the anchor text to the correct page. Your home page may not be the best choice of pages for your selected key phrase. This will also ensure that more pages than just your home page gets indexed.

Use Social book marking If you have something newsworthy, humorous, quirky, unique or shocking to say, submit a link to your web page to sites like digg.com or redit.com. These up and coming web 2.0 power houses can create a buzz overnight driving thousands of interested visitors to your web site.

Note, just because you build it doesn’t mean they will come. If it’s boring link it will quickly get buried by newer and more interesting stories. But what the hell, it’s free to submit links to these sites and you never know your luck.

Record a podcast Google loves podcasts … it just loves them. Get yourself a decent microphone and some podcasting software like Audacity and go for it. Once you have an interesting and tightly edited podcast, put it on your web site and submit it to all the major podcasting directories like iTunes and Podomatic.

All About Google AdWords

April 7th, 2010

The term “Google” has become a household name for anyone who doesn’t live under a rock, while the phrase “Google AdWords” has evolved to the point wherein every businessman is familiar with it. If you have yet to become exposed to AdWords, then you should read up on it now, for it could change the entire life of your growing business. It is thanks to Google AdWords that many famous companies today got their well-deserved exposure through the Internet. Aside from being Google’s main source of revenue, having amassed more than fifteen billion back in 2007, AdWords has helped many businesses flourish and accumulate their own wealth, because of its main product: pay-per-click advertising.

Google AdWords’ text advertising, although simple, is brilliant that way. You pay a small fee in order to have your ad pop up, which consists of one title line and two lines for content. Although thinking up of a short, quick slogan is challenging, the end result is worth it: you get to make creative, eyecatching lines that will encourage customers to visit your company’s website. You need not visit the company’s office all the way in New York City, for all transactions are, like Google itself, available online. After specifying the keywords you want to trigger your ads with, you are given the choice to input a maximum amount that you are willing to pay everytime someone clicks. How convenient is that? And when someone searches for your keywords, your ad has a good chance of showing up under the “sponsored links” bar on the right side of the page.

Many successful businesses have resulted from Google AdWords’ short but efficient system. Some companies have admitted to having their sales increase by up to fifty percent, after a short while of having bought Google adspace. Most businesses’ site traffic are bound to rise by a lot from the exposure. That is why Google AdWords is a good method, especially if you want your company to become a household name. It’ll take long before that happens, but the service helps a lot. You should not turn down an opportunity to give your business its well-deserved publicity!

One must take caution in giving such a business the publicity it deserves through the use of AdWords however. Since the launching of Google AdWords, Google has been subjected to quite a number of lawsuits along the lines of trademark law, click fraud and patent infringement. Because of these lawsuits and several other reasons, Google has become stricter and more cautious in what Ads were allowed to be advertised. An example would be how they would require the users to display a certificate in order for them to be granted permission to advertise such a product.

AdWords was initially launched in 2000, with a slightly different system: advertisers would pay a monthly amount for Google to set up and manage their campaign. This proved to be too expensive for local or small businesses, so eventually, the AdWords self-service system was introduced which allowed for more customization of ads. Since then, Google AdWords has become hugely successful with businesses and companies worldwide.

Google AdWords – How to Drive Prospects Right to Your Inbox

April 7th, 2010

It’s a fact: Google has been the most visited web site in the past couple of years, and its popularity is not going to wane anytime soon. For as long as the Internet exists, so will Google, because it is the number one search-oriented web site that offers more than just information. Aside from having an e-mail service, Google AdWords is a division of the well-known search engine that is slowly becoming popular in its own right. This is because Google AdWords has services that are so efficient that it will drive prospects right to your inbox!

What better way to advertise your company than to make an ad of it show up in the most popular web site on the world wide web? By paying a fee and essentially buying adspace on Google AdWords, you can type up your own ads and choose the keywords that will cause your website to show up on the side of the screen. The system works in the way that your ad has a good chance of reappearing when someone types in those specific keywords in the Google search bar. Aside from getting to market your web site and products or services, you will be able to attract hordes of customers by making your company more well-known. Better yet, Google will even help you make your own website if you haven’t already.

An advantage to using Google AdWords is that you will only pay if people click your ads. This way, no single cent of yours is wasted trying to drive prospects right to your inbox. Instead, you will be getting your money’s worth as well as a big opportunity to showcase your company for what it is. You can decide how much you will pay to Google AdWords by choosing a specific budget. The minimum cost per click is usually only $0.01, depending on the quality of keywords. What a bargain! You can even have your office location placed on Google Maps in order to, literally, be put on the map. Google AdWords provides all of these services for very low prices.

Anyone searching for specific information may happen to be curious about a product or service your company might be offering. By inputting those magic keywords that you have chosen, the customer has a chance of seeing your ad pop up among others in the Google search engine. Curious onlookers will be tempted to click on the link in your ad, especially if your slogan is eyecatching. With one click, you could be making a great sale, bringing more attention to your flourishing business.

Google AdWords has resulted in some of the most inspiring business stories out there. Many companies have admitted to crediting the service for their newfound successes. Businesses have confessed about their site traffic increasing exponentially after applying for adspace, and have gone from local to global in a short amount of time. Because of their easier accessibility, certain companies have experienced up to a fifty perfect increase in sales alone. Become one of these success stories today!
