The world of computer gaming, high-stakes and intense competition

November 24th, 2009

Multiplayer games and tournaments are now offering cash prizes, adding to the thrill of competing. To participate, a valid credit card or paypal account is required. And, a player must live in a state or country that has no laws against online gaming for money.

Sites which promote such activities are: www.worldwinner.com and www.arkadium.com Gaming leagues are becoming professional and organize competitions where cash prizes are worth over US$ 100,000 in cash. These events are seen as business and marketing development opportunities. Hardware manufacturing giants like Intel sponsor gaming clans and see gaming world-wide as a profitable avenue for promoting their products. High-stake gaming competitions are popular, but the real fights occur behind the scenes, where companies spend millions trying to get their technology directly into the hands of gamers Professional gaming has taken the world by storm and, LAN competitions are high-stake tournaments with a few gamers earning a living just competing. A professional gamer with a sponsorship plan in place can earn up to US$ 500,000 per year.

Cyberathlete, Professional League, Gamecaster, Global gaming League, are some of the organizations that host competitions. The first professional gaming league was set up in 1997 and today the competitions are not just televised but covered by major publications and newspapers. MTV, CNN,ESPN, USA Network, ABC World News Today, FOX, WB and others telecast the events live. Gamers from all walks of life train intensely to become virtual world champions, winning brings fame, money, as well as recognition. And, since 2001 The World Cyber Games are held in a different country each year. The prize in 2004 was worth US$ 400, 000 and competitors played: FIFA Soccer 2004, Need for Speed, Underground, Star-Craft, Brood War, Unreal Tournament 2004, Dawn of war, Dead or Alive Ultimate, and Halo 2.

Gaming is serious; it is about quick thinking, intense practice, team work, interaction with other players, and understanding technology at its best. Gamers have to be on their toes, keep abreast with new launches, changes, patches, cheats, and more. According to online gaming expert Psychologist Professor Mark Griffiths, online gaming addiction for a small minority is a real phenomenon and people suffer the same symptoms as traditional addictions. They are the types of games that completely engross the player. They are not games that you can play for 20 minutes and stop. If you are going to take it seriously, you have to spend time doing it – That gaming is taken seriously is confirmed, many major colleges are offering minor as well as major courses in game design, animation, cognition and gaming, computer music, psychology of play and more. RPI, the Pratt Institute, University of Colorado, the Art Institute of Phoenix, the University of Washington, and the University of Pennsylvania are among those that have programs in computer graphics and game technology. They are set to become a feeder system for the US$ 10 billion a year game industry.

How to Enhance your Computer Gaming Experience with the Best Accessories

November 21st, 2009

The difference between standard desktop and laptop computers and gaming level computers and laptops is significant.  The main area that they differ is in performance, but almost as significant for gamers is appearance or design.  Gamers want their computers to be top of the line in all ways, including how they look.  These differences are also quite apparent in the accessories that are available for the gaming laptops and computers.

The gaming environment demands high performance.  Any edge that a gamer can have over his opponent could mean the difference between life and death (in the cyber-world of course….).  Luckily for gamers companies like Logitech, Razer and also Microsoft are in tune with this and have an entire group of gaming accessories that are targeted for this unique group of users.

If you are just getting started with acquiring your gaming equipment it is essential that you match your high performance computer with the right gaming accessories.  Otherwise you could be limiting the overall performance available to you.  Don’t be the one out there with a standard mouse or keyboard or you could be very frustrated with your lack of success with most games today.  This is especially true for gaming on line.  The serious gamers have all the top accessories to enhance their play ability to the maximum.

Obviously, if you desire the higher performance of the gaming accessories there is a price to pay.  But the difference in performance is worth the price – that is, if you are serious about your game play.   As mentioned the gaming accessories available not only can enhance and improve your game play but there are accessories available to also just help make your laptop look slick and that you can customize to your personality.

A gaming level mouse is a great way to start adding the right accessories to your gaming system.  The Logitech G9 is an excellent choice for this.  You can change the grip you can also change the weight.  You can customize the LEDs. Even use onboard memory to take up to 5 mouse profiles with you to the next LAN party. In every way, the G9 mouse lets you tune for the way you play.  Checkout Logitech’s ID Grip for the G9 Mouse which lets you customize the look of the G9.

Another great choice for a gaming grade mouse is the Razer DeathAdder Gaming Mouse.  Take on your enemies with this lightning-fast mouse that delivers pinpoint accuracy for an incredible gaming experience.  It is also equipped with 5 programmable buttons, so you can customize this mouse to fit your preferences

Next, one should consider a gaming level keyboard.  Again Logitech has a great product with the G15 Gaming Keyboard.  The Logitech G15 keyboard keeps you informed and outfitted to win. With the Logitech-exclusive GamePanel LCD, you can easily find out what server your friends are using, or receive notification when your World of Warcraft battleground becomes available. You can also create useful macros on the fly and play them back with a single press of a G-key. The illuminated characters on the keyboard will allow you to play late into the night.

For a great gaming keyboard you should really check out the Saitek Cyborg Keyboard.  You can really enhance your gaming skills with this programmable keyboard. This high-end, adjustable, gaming keyboard has customizable backlighting, programmable functions and media keys. One of the best features is the hard wearing, metal-plated key caps in key gaming areas.

Now to really enhance game play the serious gamer needs to outfit his system with a great headset and speaker system.  Even though gaming grade laptops focus on high performance they do lack in the area of the audio system.  This is where you need to look at the gaming headsets that are available.  Many of the games today require fast and furious communication with other team members.  If your team can’t communicate clearly you will be taken out quickly in today’s high action games.

Looking to take your gaming to the next level? Do you want to have an advantage over your opponents? Then get the best gaming laptop accessories available to make sure you are the one with all the advantages. Get Paid To Play Video Games – Beta Testing Computer Games

November 15th, 2009

Back then when I was a kid, my mother was always angry when I play video games too much. Well, I cannot blame her, back then life was tough if the only thing you know were how to play video games.

Today, the story is different now. You don’t need to feel inferior anymore if the only thing you know is how to play video games because today you can get paid to play video games. I mean not just get paid, you can get a salary as much as what MBA graduates earn.

1. The Catch

The only catch is in order to become a beta game tester, you need to understand some technical know-how of the video games and console you play. That’s the only catch. So start now with reading some game magazines and websites.

2. Game Review

You can start your gaming career at the comfort of your home with writing game review. If your reviews are good, some gaming companies will be interested in hiring you. Start a blog and tell your friends or post it on gaming forum. This will quickly attract the attention of some gaming companies.

One trick I like to do is to write an Amazon review. Every time there is a new release, I will buy the game, play it in a week and write pros and cons at Amazon website.

3. Writing A Guide

A lot of people will love to pay if you can show them how to complete the game. Many will prefer to read the solution rather than wandering aimlessly for hours.

Just take a look at world of warcraft guides online; people all over the world are willing to pay money to get this guide.

All online games are good subject to turn into ebook. You can sell it on Ebay and get cash this weekend.

If you want to learn how to get paid to play games, i highly recommend gamer testing ground. Check out my in depth gamer testing ground review and learn how to make as much as $5000 per month play testing video games.

The Computer gaming revolution is here to stay

November 9th, 2009

The video game revolution is very real. Believe me I know because I have lived it and I have seen it in action. My son is a video game fanatic he plays all the time and will not take a break to eat sleep , or go outside unless I force him to. There is something about video games that we simply love. My son once described it as a cartoon where you get to be the main character and who does not love cartoons. But there has to be something a bit more to the full video game thing than just it being a game because people simply take this thing way too seriously not to mention that the amount of money that is spent on video games numbers in the billions every year.

The video gaming industry is probably the largest and most profitable of all the entertainment industries in the world. However what is most unique about video games is that it is not just an American phenomenon. The games appeal to kids and young adults as well as fully grown people across all cultures. Video games are popular in the United States and Canada and Japan. Wherever there is a somewhat industrialized and technological society you will see video games in abundance.

There was an estimate that in the next ten years there will be a different video game for every person on the planet. This number is sure to be surpassed as video games no longer need to be made on some sort of removable media for a particular platform. now a video game by can be played by anyone with a computer and a high speed Internet connection. Many of the video games that are produced on computers are known as flash.

Flash games are usually shorter and simpler than the type of games that are produced for various video game consoles. There are increasingly complex types of flash games that are known as Internet based games. These Internet based games work on the same principle as flash games however they offer greater depth than traditional flash games. They are typically less violent, and are more likely to be approved with less restrictions than those that are produced for platforms. This is a good thing since parents have less control over when and where their children can play with based video games. Kids do not need access to a particular platform or even a particular game. All they need is a computer and they are playing video games.

Find free and fun gaming at path of the jedi gamer also check out other pc based games like Path of the Jedi Masters as well as a few others .

Computer Game Tester Jobs – Play for Pay

November 6th, 2009

The primary task undertaken by a professional game tester is the repeated organized testing of video games to discover, identify, and report bugs in the game to enable game programmers to correct the code causing those bugs. The work is repetitive, sometimes tedious. The game is played over and over again, often the repeated playing of one small game event using different tactics and strategies in an attempt to reveal an error. The game tester’s mission is to ensure that all bugs are found before game release, by him rather than after release by the customer.

The average week for a game tester is about 35 hours, although overtime can be significant during the crunch time immediately before the scheduled release date. Evening, weekend, and holiday work schedules are not unheard of. Most game testing is conducted onsite at the game company’s offices.

Experience is important in determining a game tester’s salary, but it’s not necessary to have any previous experience testing games to get your first job as a game tester. It’s important only that you enjoy playing video games and can do so for the purpose of revealing bugs and documenting the conditions under which they appear.

Game testers come from varied backgrounds, education, and degree of game playing experience. Some are artists or graphic designers who are using the game testing opportunities to establish credibility within the gaming company in the hopes of moving into character creation or game programming positions in the future. Regardless of their backgrounds, they all share some common characteristics: excellent oral and written communications skills, persistence and a willingness to play games repeatedly for long periods, a methodical and analytical approach to testing, ability to pay attention to detail, and a love for playing video games.

There is a need by all gaming companies to find good candidates for testing their games to ensure that only well tested, trouble-free products go out on the market. Nothing could damage a company’s reputation more than having to recall a game that simply does not work correctly. For many gamers with the right attitude, it can be a dream job, an opening into a career helping to develop video games. Imagine being able to earn a good income by playing video games, something you’ve been doing for years for nothing.

A word of warning, however, is required. Don’t let your enthusiasm for entering the industry blind to the fact that there are a number of scam artists out there, especially on the Internet, who are trying to make a fast buck by exploiting your interest for a game testing position. If any offer requires you to pay money up front for helping you secure game testing employment-walk away. It’s a scam. Video game companies that are looking for game testers will advertise in newspapers, industry journals, or on their company websites.

If you are wanting to become a video game tester then I highly recommend you check out Game Testing Ground, you can earn up to $150 A Day!
Please read the Game Testing Ground Review for more…

Computer Games For Children To Play

November 3rd, 2009

There are a multitude of action games for your child to play. If they are between the age of 3 to 5 here are some suggestions in the order or popularity. They are Hot Dog Bush, Greedy’s Bakery, Sling Shot Santa or Wonderball. Each of these games is very different, but all take eye and hand coordination.

Hot Dog Bush is the favorite game of choice and is the easiest. With this game the object is to make as many hotdogs and serve them to your waiting customers as you possibly can. You must wait until a customer is asking for a hotdog, the customer doesn’t speak of course, you just see a picture of what all they want on their hotdogs. You get the bun, place it on the counter, cook the wiener and place it in the bun. If the customer wants ketchup or any other condiment, you place that on the hotdog and give to the customer. The customer then pays you and more customers will come up. If you do not put your money in the cash register, then no more customers will approach the hotdog stand. You are required to make so much money per day. If you meet the quota, then you have won the day!

Greedy’s Bakery is based on the Smurfs! It is an adorable game of catch the food with all the graphics that the old Smurf cartoons had in them. Greedy is trying to catch all of the food that two other Smurfs are throwing to him. To help Greedy catch the food, you must move Greedy with the arrow keys. You lose a life each time that Greedy misses the food. You win a life when Greedy catches the food. As soon as the food hits Greedy’s plate, it disappears and the score goes up! You only have four lives. This game does not last long, so a child with a short attention span will enjoy this game.

Sling Shot Santa is a more difficult game. There are two elves that are pushing a slingshot on the snow. Using the arrow keys to push Santa, they speed up as long as you are pressing the keys. If you want to sling shot Santa, then you must press the space bar key. Santa will either do one of three things. If you have chosen to sling shot him at the right time, he will be shot over the ravine. If you fall short of the mark, or if you do not get going fast enough, then poor Santa lands on the ice face first! If you get to going too fast and are too close to the ravine, then Santa and the elves fall through to the hard ground below. This game takes more thinking skill than younger kids have. Trying to get Santa over the ravine was even hard for me (and I am an adult). Sometimes I think you just get lucky and Santa flies over! You don’t actually see Santa hit the ground – that was the saving grace of this game.

Wonderball is another game for children with short attention spans. Again using your arrow keys and your space bar, a small robot tries to throw a ball up at some bricks to knock them out. A little on the destructive side, but it is cute when the ball bounces back, hits the ground and then is able to knock some more bricks out! A fast paced game which also requires hand and eye coordination!

Arcade And Computer Games Meet

October 31st, 2009

There are many arcade games out on the Internet that kids the age of 6 to 8 years old can play. There are some that are violent so we have chosen not to review those. Kids get so much violence from other influences; we are not supporting that position. The games we ranked were challenging but still could be won if the child had enough hand-eye coordination. Try to encourage them as they play so that they will not get discouraged and quit. Remaining positive is always better for their young growing minds. So let them play the games as we think that games do have a place in a growing child’s realm. They teach so many skills that the child will need in their grown-up lives. There are other ways to teach this same skill, but children seem to learn faster and with less grumbling if they enjoy the method.

The most relaxing and stress free game was Yuniti while the Mini Gallery was the most stressful of all the games we reviewed. Seeing Santa plastered on the snow was funny and while he slid down the ravine he said weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yuniti is a great hand, eye coordination game and it is very relaxing. The child between 4 and 8 can easily play this game. It lasts as long as you can keep the balls from hitting the ground. Even an adult could get to love this addicting game as it is so relaxing. You have a green ball that you are in control of with your arrow keys. When a blue ball floats downward, you bump it with the green ball so that it will go up again. It seems quit tame at first, then, more balls start falling. Within 40 seconds you may have at least 3 or 4 balls falling around the same time. The longer your score time is the better you are at it.

After Glow is a game where you are guiding your ship through several levels while collecting orbs. You must complete each level in the shortest possible amount of time. The levels are based around time and separated into easy mode, medium and hard mode which leaves insane mode for those who have conquered the game. Your score is based on how long it takes you to maneuver through the obstacles. If you accidently hit the wall you are penalized. The harder you hit a wall the more penalties the game will give you. It is diffinently a game of hand and eye coordination and learning to use those arrow keys ceee! This game does take some skills so a child of 6 to 8 could probably learn to play this game.

Mini Gallery is another arcade game that probably a 6 year old to 8 year old would want to play. You have a basket where you want to catch the “good” eggs that are falling from the sky. There are also “bad” eggs falling and you sure do not want those eggs in your basket. If you get a full basket of good eggs, then you click the mouse and cook them. Even on the easy mode, this game was quit challenging as some of the eggs looked good as they were falling, but at the last moment, they cracked open! A child needs to have great hand eye coordination as well as the ability to tell a good egg from a bad egg. This is a short lived game if you cannot maneuver the mouse and differentiate between the good and the bad eggs.

Choices In Computer Games Today

October 28th, 2009

There are many downloadable free online games all over the Internet. These games seem to be very addicting and each game site has some different ones that you can download. Most of these games are harmless to download, but with all the virus scares out these, we have decided to run a virus program on them before opening them and letting them install upon your hard drive.

The first downloadable game (costs $19.95 to download the full version or you may download a smaller version for free) we will review is Dynomite. This game is played by shooting eggs that match by color into the puzzle. There are multiple phases of this game. The first phase is a relaxing and is a slow paced game called Time Trial. If you are looking for a fast, hard, addicting game that lasts forever try out the Endless mode.

There are two other modes of play with this game, Stomped and Fossil Challenge. There are three levels of difficulty; easy, hard and super. This game has hilarious characters which make it more fun to love. They have a tutorial which explains the game, how to play and how to win in great detail. There are also some very crazy sounds and dialog going on during the entire game. This is NOT your typical low volume game. So turn up the speakers and get prepared to laugh! Try to win if you can!!

Cosmic Stacker is a very low volume, easy, relaxing way to spend the evening. It is a journey through space with a beautiful array of colors to boot. In this journey, you are trying to assemble different sized rings into groups that color match. You can either do this at break neck speed trying to stop the advancing rings from reaching the end or you can take your time and strategically try to do the same thing. All the while you are playing; you will be surrounded by beautiful swirls of color, mysterious alien landscapes and a beautiful relaxing soundtrack. We found Cosmic Stacker to be a great game to unwind with after a hard day’s work.

Cosmic Stacker is also a game that you can pay for (19.99) or obtain the shorter version for free.

Anglor is a free game if you want the short version or a paid game if you think you have to have the full version. It uses your puzzle skills to lift an evil curse.

You will be dodging the dreaded, tricky chain traps as you explore ancient ruins in your quest to obtain matching stones and find the pieces of the Amulet of Angkor. Along the way you may use the power of the golden trident to blast the stones apart with lightning. A magical beautiful, glorious golden age waits at the end of your exciting journey. Can you be the one who brings hope to lands of Angkor?

Angkor Deluxe has unlimited play, nine beautiful settings, all the original traps and dangerous pitfalls. There are helpful bonus items along the way so keep a lookout for those as you journey down the beautiful path of glory. This game can last for hours in the full mode, so be prepared!

Five Spots II is the next game available for download. Again for the full version you must pay $19.99 or be satisfied with the short version for free. We always recommend the short version first, just in case you do not like playing the game.

This game is still all about finding the Monkey and the Puzzle modes. These are the modes that are the most fun and addicting to play. If you happen to have Version I and then purchase this Volume II, then you will have the advantage of being able to put together a fully equipped version of 5 spots that will contain all the images from both versions. There are four modes in which you can play. They are super fun classic, find the monkey, leisure and puzzle mode. Each has its good and bad moments, but having all four will get you a good playing time as well as not boring you to death. This game has literally tons of images and random changes.
