3D Video Is Set to extend computer game Sales

December 24th, 2009

When Nintendo games first came out they were simple joystick and button controls, showing 2 dimensional graphics. Such games as Space Invaders and Pacman swept the world by force making their first appearance in arcades then eventually to the customers own home. To think Playstation games made only twenty years ago required a machine the dimensions of an occasional table to be able to run them can now be played on mobile telephones.

With further developments in console systems and PCs Playstation games now have a number of platforms, from the hi tech Sony Playstation 3 capable of running games that contain virtual worlds to the highly interactive Nintendo Wii with motion controls. However there is one platform that continues to get better over time, instead of becoming redundant. This is of course the ceaselessly upgradeable personal Computer ).

But where are we now with current 3D video? 3D rendering is now able to be done in seconds and seconds rather then days and weeks that it might have taken just a couple of years back. This technology is 3D glasses. 3D glasses for those who have not heard about them are glasses with a red hint on one eye and blue hint on the other. This allows different colored photographs to be seen by different eyes making a 3D affect like none else. You may be flying a spaceship around terrain, fighting battle droids in an arena, or maybe playing the classical game of snake all right in front of your eyes. This is technology which has been about for years, being employed in cinemas and Imac’s world wide.

Top Video Games vs Computer Games From Ishopvideogame

December 21st, 2009

From time to time, video games have been criticized by parents’ groups, psychologists, politicians, and some religious organizations for allegedly glorifying violence, cruelty, and crime and exposing children to these elements. It is particularly disturbing to some that some allow children to act out crimes (for example, the Grand Theft Auto series), and reward them for doing so. Concerns that children who play violent video games may have a tendency to act more aggressively on the playground have led to voluntary rating systems adopted by the industry, such as the ESRB rating system in the United States and the PEGI rating system in Europe, that are aimed at educating parents about the types of games their children should or should not be playing (or are begging to play).

Most studies, however, reach the conclusion that violence in them is not causally linked with aggressive tendencies. This was the conclusion of a 1999 study by the U.S. government, prompting Surgeon General David Satcher to say, “…we clearly associate media violence to aggressive behavior, but the impact was very small compared to other things. Some may not be happy with that, but that’s where the science is.” This was also the conclusion of a meta-analysis by psychologist Johnathan Freedman, who reviewed over 200 published studies and found that the majority did not find a causal link.

Critics of movies, television, and books as a group look down on video games as an inferior form of entertainment[citation needed]. This is probably because of the observation that most of them have very little plot and even less character development[citation needed], which may or may not be true. A frequent counterargument is that this is like complaining that a game of football does not contain much plot or character development, and that although some of them include a narrative, they are really about acting in and against a virtual world, which is not primarily based upon passively seeing and hearing. Another point of video games to the movies which during the silent era were also considered mere entertainment.

Online computer games

December 18th, 2009

It’s an unfortunate fact that online gaming involves tolerating a remarkable amount of rudeness, vulgarity, poor sportsmanship, and plain old bad manners. Some games communities are a little more mature than others, but you can generally expect this sort of misbehavior in just about every multiplayer games you come across. I understand that people are largely anonymous online, and they can get very emotionally involved in the competition, but that’s no reason to throw out any semblance of politeness or decency. I’ve put together a few pointers on good online gaming etiquette, although I suspect the worst offenders aren’t likely to take notice.

Play Fair
Cheating and using exploits is an admission that you can’t win without them. Furthermore, you’ll find winning a fair fight a lot more rewarding. If winning is really important to you, keep practicing and learn from what successful players are doing. Should the competition prove to be too much for you, finding a different games like ?????? 365 is a better solution than cheating.

Be A Good Sport
Laughing at defeated opponents, bragging about your achievements, overdoing it with taunts and emotes, all make you look childish. The fact is, even children should know better. An appropriate emote used at the right moment can be a beautiful thing, but when it accompanies every encounter in the games, it turns into that much more mindless spam, which brings us to our next rule.

Don’t Spam
You really don’t need to hammer the chat system with WTS messages to sell an item, nor do you need to use every channel in the game when there is a channel dedicated to trade. If people aren’t interested, repeating a message in chat every 3 seconds isn’t likely to change that. Wait a minute or two, and maybe you’ll start to get through to a new audience.

Spare Us the Caps
C’mon people, this is a no-brainer that has been around since the dawn of the Internet – don’t use all capital letters in chat. It’s the text equivalent of yelling at everyone, and nobody wants to be yelled at.

You Were a Noob Too
Nobody can pick up a new games and instantly familiarize themselves with all its nuances and details. There are heaps of acronyms and slang particular to each game, and it’s absurd to expect people to know these things without a little help from other players. Someone once explained to you what was going on, now you can do the same, rather than simply telling them they’re “noobs” and leaving it at that.

A Little Teamwork, Please
If you’re part of a team, try to cooperate with your teammates a little. Rambo-style games rarely pays off in a team-oriented game, so don’t expect your teammates to be right behind you when you go kamakazi into a gauntlet of enemies. Also keep in mind that actually winning the match is more important than being at the top of the scoreboard.

Don’t Be a Quitter
It’s amazing how often people will disconnect without a word when they’re losing, or drop out when their group encounter isn’t going well. If you don’t think you can win, surrender. If your instance run isn’t going well, try to work it out politely or offer some friendly advice. At times when your group isn’t up to the task, explain the problem to others without insulting them. You never know what kind of solutions people will come up with until you give them a chance.

Not Everyone Who Wins Is a Cheater
Just because another player kills you a couple times does not mean that they’re cheating. As good as you may think you are at any game, there are likely a lot of players who are just as good or better than you are. If you’re as hot as all that, then start playing professionally in LAN tournaments where there is no way to cheat. If you’re almost certain that someone is cheating, report them to an admin and let them investigate rather than throwing around accusations you can’t back up.

Camping Is a Lame Tactic
Although some games encourage it, camping spawn points and corpses is generally a lame tactic. In many cases it’s only possible because of flawed game design, but it’s still a weak strategy that players with any dignity don’t resort to.

Ignore Insults
When someone insults you, your best option is to ignore them. If the insults persist, most chat and voice systems have ‘ignore’ functions to ensure that further communications from them are blocked. Returning the insults typically only escalates the exchange into something you’ll regret later.

Enjoy the Game
Games are meant to be fun, and if you can’t laugh it off when things go wrong, or forgive a team member for screwing up, then maybe it’s time for a break. Most of us have enough stress in our lives, we don’t really care to add a bunch of gaming stress to that. When you start taking it too seriously, it defeats the purpose of playing a game in the first place.

Have you ever wished you could build your very own gaming computer at a cheap price? Gaming computers sold by manufacturers like Alien ware, Gateway or Dell will cost a lot more money, anywhere from $2000 to $4000. In my new 67-page eBook How to Build A Gaming Computer For Under $1000, I show you how to build your own gaming computer for under $1000 – without compromising the quality of hardware and gaming performance.

I know how hard trying to build your own computer can be. As a newbie to the world of computer building you have to learn how to select the best components, pick up various new technical terms like PCI Express, SATA and RAID, and also grapple with installing and configuring the hardware. Even for seasoned computer builders, getting a list of the best components and still staying within your budget can be a challenge.

I’ve been building computers for 15 years now. I started off trying to get my computer to work with the latest games in the early 1990s – and in the process went through a lot of frustration and pain. With each computer I built, I gained valuable experience and have kept up with the latest computer technologies. How To Build a Gaming presented in Computer for Under $1000 is a culmination of my experience in building gaming computers, one easy-to-read volume.

Computer Games for Brain Fitness

December 9th, 2009

Just came across some interesting research from Arthur Kramer at the University of Illinois, which buttresses the already steady stream of information about how brain fitness can be improved.

This study indicates that 60 and 70 year old folks can improve some brain or cognitive skills by playing a strategic video game.

From the Science Digest article about the study,

“A desire to rule the world may be a good thing if you’re over 60 and worried about losing your mental faculties. A new study found that adults in their 60s and 70s can improve a number of cognitive functions by playing a strategic video game that rewards nation-building and territorial expansion.”

According to the article, “this is the first such study of older adults, and it is the first to find such pronounced effects on cognitive skills not directly related to the skills learned in the video game, said University of Illinois psychology professor Arthur Kramer, an author on the study.”

“Decades of laboratory studies designed to improve specific cognitive skills, such as short-term memory, have found again and again that trainees improve almost exclusively on the tasks they perform in the lab – and only under laboratory conditions, Kramer said.”

This is important for those of us with 60 year old brains who are interested is sustaining our viability, especially if you are a parent, like me, of a 10 and 4 year old brain. I want my training to generalize to the rest of my life. When I lift weights, the strength that results is very useful in lawn mowing and parenting realms. It makes it possible for me to wrestle with my kids, for example, and even their friends. I can feel the strength when I am tasked with that chore, which overwhelms my younger wife. I want my brain fitness to translate to my parenting and counseling practice in the same way. I also like to know what Dr. I would like to know what Dr. Kramer’s opinion of the fluid intelligence training provided by the dual n back task is in regards to executive intelligence.

“When you train somebody on a task they tend to improve in that task, whatever it is, but it usually doesn’t transfer much beyond that skill or beyond the particular situation in which they learned it,” he said. “And there are virtually no studies that examine whether there’s any transfer outside the lab to things people care about.”

This has been a concern for me with some of the commercial programs available to consumers. Other programs have indicated that the training in the exercise translates to other activities, and some have said there is limited or no transfer to activities not specifically in the game. Kramer is saying. I would be very curious to know what games the researchers tried and discarded and why.

“Kramer and his colleagues wanted to know whether a more integrated training approach could go beyond the training environment to enhance the cognitive skills used in every day life. Specifically, the researchers wondered whether interactive video games might benefit those cognitive functions that decline most with age.”

“Older people tend to fare less well on things that are called executive control processes,” Kramer said. “These include things like scheduling, planning, working memory, multitasking and dealing with ambiguity.”

So it is old age and not ADD? Will my wife believe that? She is already sceptical].

The evidence in this study indicates that there was improvement.

“In medical terminology, these would be dose-response effects,” Kramer said. “The more drug – or in this case the more training on the video game – the more benefit.”

The findings are meaningful, Basak said, because they show that multi-dimensional training can affect many individual components of cognitive function.

“The fact that you’re training people in a molecule and finding transfer to atoms I think is very impressive,” she said.

“This is one mode in which older people can stay mentally fit, cognitively fit,” Kramer said. “I’m not suggesting, however, that it’s the only thing they should do.”

Other activities, in particular socializing, exercising and eating well, are also important to maintaining healthy cognitive function in later years, he said.

Thanks Dr. Kramer, and for your lead researcher Chandramallika Basak.

Bring Your Body Back To Shape With The DDR Computer Game

December 6th, 2009

Even though most people around us are way out of a healthy figure, they do not think much about exercising. It’s not that they do not know the consideration of some physical exercise; the important reason is that they are not motivated enough to exercise. And that is true, for someone who has led a more or less stationary life, exercising can be a real pain.

But Dance Dance Revolution has changed all that. Here’s a way by which people can exercise, and that too doing something everybody likes to listening to music and playing a video game to boot! The concept of Dance Dance Revolution is simple. There is a game screen with an arcade game set on it. But instead of the regular joystick or the keyboard controls, there is a dance pad on the floor. Yes, the floor! The dance pad has the four arrow keys. The player has to step on these keys in order to play. So, instead of pressing the arrow keys by hand, the player has to step on the keys.

What’s more fun is that the arcade game plays to music, and you can select the music. People who look upon the Dance Dance Revolution as an exercise machine will do well to begin with a slow tune first. The game will play according to music and you control it by jumping onto the dance pad. It’s actually jumping, but you can convert it into a kind of dance later on as you become proficient. You can loop the same tune so that you keep playing, or you can pause the game and shuffle the track. As you become a proficient at playing the game with slower tunes, you can go on to faster tunes that will give you more exercise.

There’s good reason too you can keep scores. The scores are on the basis of the hits and misses you have had in the game. Naturally, if you want to improve on the scores, you will have to play faster the next time. And that means more exercise. But, drawn to the game, people do exercise more and more on Dance Dance Revolution.

Experts believe that people can burn more calories through the Dance Dance Revolution than with any other method that they can do indoors. There is a psychological reason for that actually. Since people like the songs and the game keeps them hooked, they do not know that they are actually exercising. That means, they exercise for a longer time than on other methods. That is the reason why some doctors have started prescribing exercises on the Dance Dance Revolution. Just about fifteen minutes of exercising on this machine can give very good results at weight loss, but with a Dance Dance Revolution in your home, you might certainly end up exercising much more than you ever intended to.

Sean is a great fan of Dance Dance Revolution. Read some of his reviews why he is a fan at the following website:

Affiliate Marketing – the Ultimate Computer Game

December 3rd, 2009

I’m not a gamer. However, when my son was younger, he and I tackled a computer strategy game together. In the game, the player became the main character wandering through a strange land seeking a great reward. Along the way, he encountered both helpers and hinderers. Through these encounters, our hero found opportunities to increase his strength and cunning. That describes affiliate marketing – a feat of strategy that can offer great rewards to those who acquire strength and cunning.

Life Force

It’s Game Over when your character runs out of life force. In our game, life force is measured by the number of visitors to your website. Of primary importance to an affiliate marketer is creating ways to attract visitors. Internet users are seeking information and entertainment. Build a site that offers one or both of these along with an element of uniqueness and you will have the potential for an abundance of life force.

Strength

There’s strength in numbers is certainly true in internet marketing. Find ways to place your link on other sites. Look for sites that are relevant to your own content. Those fellow website owners who will exchange links or write features about your site are important helpers in gaining strength.

Forums are a place where you can personally interact with other internet users. These interactions can result in drawing more visitors to your site. Many forums allow you to post your link along with your signature. Networking through forums can help build links and service exchanges as well. Reading posts from other users can often uncover a lotus blossom of knowledge.

Article databases create more opportunities for visitors to become aware of you and the information or entertainment that you have to offer. Allow these minions to do your bidding and bring traffic to your site.

Cunning

Never stop learning. Subscribe to two or three affiliate marketing newsletters. You have mentors with lessons to teach, open your mind and receive.

Search engines can seem both friend and foe. It takes a lot of work to master the search engine. Words are the key. You must diligently seek out the words that bring you the most visitors and include them in the content of your site. The tricky part is, however, that the perfect combination of words is constantly shifting as if you are building your structure on a sand dune. As the terrain changes, so must your site.

There are seers who can help you master the magic of the words – search suggestion tools. With these tools, you can assign value to the words that your site contains. Choose high-ranking key words that are related to the message of your page and gracefully weave them into your content.

Rewards

Join an affiliate program to find advertisers. Select your ads carefully to cater toward your targeted audience. Some sites do well with flashing banner ads, while others find text links to be more lucrative. Apply your cunning and study your ad campaigns continuously.

Pay per click programs are also available. The commissions are smaller than affiliate advertisers pay, but since visitors will click much more often than they will purchase, the small amounts add up quickly. Apply the key-word strategies and your pages will not only display ads that pay higher rewards for each click, but also ads that are of keen interest to your visitors.

Joint ventures are a combination link exchange/affiliate relationship, a way to share traffic to the mutual benefit of both parties. Look for joint venture opportunities from sites that have parallel interests to your own site. Inviting another person into your boat adds more rowing power and speeds you along your journey.

It’s a game! Enjoy each moment as you gain the next level. Remember that strength and cunning take time and determination to develop. But, as they grow so will your chests of treasure.

Best Ways to Store Computer Games

November 30th, 2009

Video games are popular but can also be an expensive hobby to have. Games definitely are not cheap. So as not to waste your money, be sure to look after them correctly. Learn the best way to store your games and cases so that you can enjoy them for many years. These tips will help keep them in good order.

1. Get some shelves. Rather than having them all over the floor and tabletops, buy a dedicated shelf to store your games. Any sort of shelf will do as long as it is capable of holding a video game case in the upright position. Your local video game store will definitely have some game storage options to choose from. Furniture stores are another good source for potential shelving options. Just be sure to get the right size shelves for your needs – (you may be tempted to cram too many cases onto the shelves which may result in cracked cases and ruined games.)

2. Store the game in its case at all times. You should always store your games in their cases when they are not in use, this will help in maintaining your games and protecting them. You should always place your game disk back into their original cases as soon as you finish playing the game. If there is no case with the game, use a plastic or paper CD cover so the disk will not become scratched and unusable. Your local electronics store or video game store will have replacement cases to purchase too. Disks are vulnerable so cover them at all times to avoid scratching and dirt build-up.

3. Handle your games carefully. Always make sure that your hands are clean. Grease and dirt on hands from eating will go straight to the delicate surface of a video game, potentially ruining it. Wipe over the cases every now and then also, to remove any grime.

If one of your games needs to get cleaned, you may want to think about having a professional clean it. You may result in doing more harm than good if you wipe it down with a wet cloth. It is necessary to have your game cleaned the right way, the best way to ensure this is by allowing the game store to do it for you. For a few dollars, you can also get disks re-surfaced by professionals – it’s much cheaper than having to replace the game.

4. Keep game instructions together with the game in a safe place. Any game you purchase will come with an instruction leaflet. Don’t throw them out! There is bound to be some information that will be handy some day. Keep them all in the same place.

By having good storage and cleaning habits, your video game collection will keep its value for a lot longer. If you ever have the need to sell them, buyers will like the look of the near-new appearance of your games. You should really consider taking the time to store your video game collection in the proper way.
